October is replete with firm news, none of it scary. First, we congratulate and honor our founding father and mentor to us all, J. Raymond Miyares, on his retirement, effective the end of the month. Ray is well-known for his expertise in the municipal field, particularly in environmental matters. As many of you know, he was the leading drafter of the Water Management Act and has been a strong advocate for the protection of municipalities’ water registration rights. We have all benefited from the breadth of his knowledge, his thoughtfulness, and his good cheer. We wish Ray all the best, knowing that he will enjoy spending more time with his family. He will be missed by us all.
Second, Donna M. Brewer and Christopher L. Brown have been named as Massachusetts SuperLawyers® in the field of State, Local, and Municipal Law and Ivria G. Fried is a Rising Star® in the field of environmental law. All three are multiyear awardees in these categories. We congratulate Donna, Chris, and Ivria for the recognition of their skills by their voting peers.
